The terrain is steep and walkers have to be in top physical condition to take part. Walking 10 miles a day for 5 days including steep ascents and descents at altitudes up to 3,200m. Nights will be spent camping in the mountains at low temperatures. Food will be simple but nourishing. A typical breakfast will include toast with jam, eggs plus tea/coffee. Lunch will usually include rice with dahl (lentils), noodles or pasta. Our evening meal will be more substantial with soup, thukpa (a chicken stew) or an omelette.
To take part, I must raise at least £3200. There are additional costs for an extensive kit (which must be suitable for the conditions), Visa, medical supplies plus of course the costs of fundraising.
I have been busy raising money with the help of family and friends (coffee mornings, quiz night, afternoon tea) with more events planned in the months ahead.
